We discuss the use and importance of pulsating variable stars as population tracers in Local Group galaxies. Among bright crossing classical instability strip, we mostly focus on RR Lyrae Anomalous Cepheids. their pulsational properties how it is possible to them constrain evolution star formation history host galaxy. old population, they can be used trace accretion large galaxies such Milky Way M31, also early chemical evolution. Moreover, show that frequency Cepheids follows different relations, therefore intermediate-age formation. Finally, methods derive distances impact Gaia mission.
